About Us

Usher was started in 1972. Darryl and Barbra Usher started the company in the garage of their home. Darryl wanted to build an experimental airplane. He formed a bond with Bob Bushby, the founder of an experimental aircraft kit called the Midget Mustang. Bob was looking for someone to make small aluminum aircraft parts. All you needed was the will to do it, a pair of metal cutting tin snips and a card table. Darryl had all three. That would be the foundation for the start of Usher Precision Manufacturing (formerly Usher Enterprises).

Around 1974 Darryl’s good friend Dick Vangrunsven (Van’s Aircraft) had developed an aircraft that was creating quite a stir in the experimental aircraft world. Not knowing at the time that history was being made with the Van’s Aircraft design. Van’s Aircraft was gaining so much popularity that Dick Vangrunsven needed help, and called on his friend Darryl. Darryl then solicited his son (Karl Usher) to join forces to tackle all the orders for parts for Van’s Aircraft.

Usher continues to grow each year by adapting to customer needs, adding new technology, new manufacturing and inspection equipment along with highly skilled workers. We are ISO and AS9100 certified, ITAR Registered and have our FFL Type-07

Our two buildings with 37,000 sqft house all of state of the art CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, CNC Fiber Laser, Assembly, and Inspection Lab.

In 2022, Usher Precision Manufacturing opened a 2nd facility in Phoenix, AZ with a focus on Swiss screw machines, and micro machine turn parts for the medical industry.
